AutoCross

We will be starting off our 2013 Autocross season this month on Sunday, May 19th with our Spring Autocross Car Control Clinic at the McCarty Avenue Parking lot in Albany.

After the success of last year’s format, we are going to again host an autocross training clinic for beginner and novice drivers. This clinic will cover the fundamentals of preparing your car for the event, a detailed walk through of a typical course, and some non-timed practice runs with an instructor both in the driver's and passenger's seats. This will be an excellent opportunity for anyone who is curious about what this type of an event entails, both for you the driver and for your car. There will be a $10 charge for participation in this part of the Car Control Clinic. Registration for the clinic will start around 9 a.m. Please arrive early enough to get your car cleaned out and prepared for tech inspection. We will start this part of the event around 10:00 a.m. and run it until approximately 11:30 a.m.

The second part of this event will pick up around 12:30 p.m. and will consist of a standard autocross. Registration if you want to participate in this part of the event will remain open until 12 p.m. It is not necessary for you to participate in the morning session, but all drivers who want to drive in the afternoon will need to be registered by 11 a.m. to allow time for tech inspection before the start time of 12:30. The cost for the afternoon portion of the event will be $25. We will be following a modified version of PCA rules for classifications and prizes. Final classification will be done during registration the morning of the event. The following are the eligibility rules for entrants and vehicles:

The primary driver must be a member of the Porsche Club of America.

All occupants in a vehicle on the course must wear a helmet (Snell 95 or newer). Some loaner helmets will be available.

The vehicle must be:
- Street legal.
- Use DOT approved tires.
- NOT exceed 90 DB @ 4500 rpm (this is a muffled event).
- Pass a standard safety inspection the morning of the event.

(Note: HCP Safety Chair will be the final judge of all safety issues, and reserves the right to reject any vehicle)
